Lee 'Scratch' Perry, kum reggae i dub glazbe, rekao je da više ne želi raditi s glazbom, nego da će napraviti strip. Slijedeći stope kolega glazbenika Will.i.am, Lights i My Chemical Romancee, Perry želi reinventirati sebe i upustiti se u svijet stripova. Ova glazbena legenda otkrila je za Metro.co.uk da je u radu u glazbenoj industriji previše stresa i stoga želi uzeti pauzu.

Rekao je: "Instead of making music I want to make a comic, I want to make a change. I want to make a change from reggae music to make comics. Reggae music has too much stress. It’s the sensible thing to do."

Njegov strip će odlaziti u idealan svijet gdje više neće biti tjeskobe i patnje. Rekao je: "There will be no poverty in my comic book or no stress. The Emperor Perry White comic book. ‘There’ll be no ragamuffin, or raggapuffin, or raggatuffin, no raggabuffin! There’ll be no raggasmoking, cigarette smoking." Dodao je: "I will find a cure for poverty, I will find a cure for stress, and I will find a cure for this stress. Comic economic, comic economic, comic economic."

Ovaj vitalan 82-godišnjak je pucao na slavu kada se udružio s Bobom Marleyom u proizvodnji glazbe. Tvrdi da je "Marleyu dao dar reggaea", ali kaže da je pjevač promijenio svoj "originalni plan" kada je počeo uzimati droge. Perry je rekao: "So Bob Marley changed my original plan. He took a lot of dope so he became crazy, so he did not have the glory and there was madness. He had to clear the brain. But if you take cocaine how can you have a clear brain? He had a crazy brain and a mad brain. Jesus was amongst him but when he went anti Jesus that’s when he became funny."

Perry je nastavio: "When he became anti Christ that’s when there was trouble. And when he became anti Christ he died. When one becomes anti Christ that’s when one dies."

Međutim unatoč njihovim razlikama, zvuči kao da će Perry zadržati Bob živog u svom stripu. Rekao je: "My music is a comic and I want to mix it up, I will mix it up with Bob Marley."  Perry želi kroz strip pokazati svoj idealan svijet, kao i kroz dokumentarni film iz 2015. godine Lee Scratch Perry’s Vision of Paradise. Film je snimio redatelj Volker Schaner koji je slijedio ovu glazbenu ikonu otprilike 13 godina. To je priča o otkrivenju i pokazuje kako je Perry promijenio svijet kroz glazbu putem pozitivnog načina razmišljanja i optimizama.

Za kraj Perry zaključuje: "I am the luckiest man on the planet Earth. I come to earth to inspire. I am the black Jesus Christ I am back from the dead I am back from the Crucifixion and I am back from the dead. I LSP, will turn the LSD into LSP."
