Uoči INmusic festivala 2008. zahvaljujući momcima iz Bass Culture, obavili smo intervju s legendarnim vokalom Ras T-weedom.
CroReggae: Can you introduce yourself?
Ras T- weed: I am Ras T- weed. Greetings to everybody. It is pleasure to be here in Zagreb city again, my second home.
CroReggae: In one occasion you told me that you love Croatia? Why?
Ras T- weed: I been in Croatia six or seven times now, when you come to place you become familiar, you become comfortable. So, as you can see, I am in city in my shorts, otside is beautiful. This is the life I like, it's warm, mediterranean, people are very friendly, food is great, you have beautiful vibes.
CroReggae: Thank you! Last few years you are working with Bass Culture. How do you match with them?
Ras T- weed: We met trough working with Overproof soundsystem. And we make dancehall reggae session here as well and we have very similar outlook and experimental sound of Reggae. It's like a marrige, it's great energy and gives me opportunity to do something outside of Overproof. It is the third time to do with Bass Culture here in Zagreb, we been in Garden Festival in Zadar. And so, yes, it is great pleasure always to work with different people. And Bass Culture, Ilko and Zoran are wicked!
CroReggae: Are you full time member of Overproof soundsystem or just occasionally?
Ras T- weed: Now, I am not working with Overproof, I work on a solo project. Yes, I am original member, but I am working on a solo project on my own wich I feel is necesery that I have to do with my personal group, to do my own personal spiritual music. In this time I am working in some other things and who knows what happened in future. But I am working in many different projects, I am recording a solo Reggae album with producer from UK who is called Murray Man who is very strong DJ, singer, producer. He produced great rhytms, we recorded six or seven songs. We want to record 10, 12, 13, 14 songs and put that on the album.
CroReggae: You stoled one of my question! I wanted to ask you about solo albums (laugh!). You told me that you are planning to work with Radikal Dub kolektiv soundsystem?
Ras T-weed: Yes, yes! I think that one time we came back from Zadar, there was sampling in the radio in the car and I was freestyling and then we get an idea. We wanted go to the studio, but time was not enough to finished. We have a track, it is great dub, European sound. So, I am here for a week, on VIP Festival and I am going to record this song with RDK. It will be one further connection with Croatia.
CroReggae: What is message that you sent in your songs?
Ras T- weed: I can only speak about what I know and what I see. You are journalist, I am a singer and so this is what I choose to do, what you choose to do. So I try to speak about truths and rights, I speak from my personal experience, about life.
CroReggae: And for the end, message for our readers...
Ras T-weed: Stay focused, seperate yourself from thing that are not real. We are living in a world that is changing very fast, technology is changing very fast. What dreams that you have, if you want to be prime minister or president of Croatia, or scientist, just go for your dreams.
